The English Shetland Sheepdog Club

Training of Judges Scheme

The Club runs a very comprehensive Training of Judges Scheme which meets or exceeds KC recommendations for breed-specific judges training.

It is a requirement that all new judges who wish to be included on the Club's judges list must enrol on the scheme. Candidates are required to attend four lectures, take and pass a written paper, attend private tuition, pass a hands-on assessment and be evaluated at two shows, before progressing up the list. Candidates receive a full pack of documentation including an elaboration and a DVD of the Breed Standard.

Lectures are held at various venues throughout the year.

The topics are:
Breed Standard
Structure & Movement
Stewarding
Ring Management
